Marina Black Media

Welcome to Marina Black Media!

I'm the founder of Marina Black Media (MBM), a creative agency based in downtown Toronto focused on storytelling through photography and journalism. I photograph everything from weddings and family celebrations to professional branding sessions and industry events. As a journalist, I write about arts and culture, as well as the broader conversations shaping society and social life. At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to capturing real meaningful moments.

My journey into photojournalism began with a Canon Rebel T3 and a free WordPress blog—taking photos for the stories I wanted to write and writing about the photos I captured. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies in 2021, I worked in marketing and corporate communications while steadily building MBM on the side. In 2022, I pivoted fully into creative entrepreneurship — expanding my practice to include freelance copy writing, editing, and now long-form journalism.

In 2025, I completed my Master’s in Journalism at Toronto Metropolitan University, which opened the door to valuable opportunities: interning at TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin, producing The Review of Journalism, and leading The Otter’s fact-checking team.

If you’re an editor or work with a news outlet or publication, I’d love to connect—feel free to reach out about potential written assignments, fact-checking, or photography.
